The other side of the half man half eagle guardian.

Half Eagle - Half Man

I had a dream , a bird is flying on top of me , his size is so big till it block the whole sun, he landed , then I realize is with human head, he did not speck just gently tidy up his furt ,his wings, keep behind the wings, just like a noble resting his arm behind the waist, and the half man half bird turn in to a golden statue, and a golden coin drop to the floor. I pick it up, look at him again his eyes turn in to ruby , the shine are so incredible , I bounce and pay respect ..... I was then wake up in the middle of night with no gold coin on hand hahaha. Can not understand the dream.

I google it " the golden half man half bird, the next morning straight and this is my result .

The Karura is a mythical bird-man creature of Hindu lore. The gold-colored "Garuda" had a human body but the wings and face/beak of an eagle. In early Hindu literature, Garuda appears as the mount (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, and is thus semi-divine. In Tibetan tradition, Garuda (Khyung) is a mythical bird, similar to an eagle, but of gigantic proportions, able to block the sunlight with its size. In Japan, Karua is an enormous fire-breathing eagle-man with golden feathers and magic gems crowning its head.

Other Karura Trivia

- Karura is the mortal enemy of the dragon, who it feeds on. Only a dragon who possesses a Buddhist talisman (or one who has converted to the Buddhist teaching) can escape from the dragon-eating Karura.

- In Southeast Asia the walls of temples are often decorated with Karura, as at Angkor or Java. Maybe it is because I just come back from angkor wat trip hahaha.

- Thought to be oldest of the birds

- Flapping of wings sounded like clap of thunder

- Personifies the sun

- In Japanese paintings, the Karura is often depicted as an ornate bird with human head treading on serpents.

- A fierce bird of prey, the mount of Vishnu, variously described as an eagle, hawk, or kite. Garuda is the enemy of all snakes.

After all I understand a bit , I was just back from Bali trip, been seeing Garuda statue everywhere. In a temple I even touched a garuda statue and asked my friend , do u know the story or myth about this guardian ? No one answer .

After reading few page, i decide to paint. This is the unfinished piece cause I am not good with eyes , still not able to paint eyes with soul .

I hv no understand why all the myth make Garuda look fears, a not friendly guardian. I would like to dress up him , with harmony color, with music instrument instate of weapons , killing , hunting and bla bla bla , just nice , relax , playing harp :) also I have mixture Chinese oriental feel to my Garuda. I am sure there is always a "other side" of his personality- "gentle" in Chinese we call 刚中带柔:)
