In Chinese traditional culture, these two elements -the carp and the Lotus is a symbol of good luck. Their combination symbolizes happiness , abundance life, from year to year balance in hand, this combination also symbolizing wealth and status, thus are widely popular.

The other side of the half man half eagle guardian.

Half Eagle - Half Man

I had a dream , a bird is flying on top of me , his size is so big till it block the whole sun, he landed , then I realize is with human head, he did not speck just gently tidy up his furt ,his wings, keep behind the wings, just like a noble resting his arm behind the waist, and the half man half bird turn in to a golden statue, and a golden coin drop to the floor. I pick it up, look at him again his eyes turn in to ruby , the shine are so incredible , I bounce and pay respect ..... I was then wake up in the middle of night with no gold coin on hand hahaha. Can not understand the dream.

I google it " the golden half man half bird, the next morning straight and this is my result .

The Karura is a mythical bird-man creature of Hindu lore. The gold-colored "Garuda" had a human body but the wings and face/beak of an eagle. In early Hindu literature, Garuda appears as the mount (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, and is thus semi-divine. In Tibetan tradition, Garuda (Khyung) is a mythical bird, similar to an eagle, but of gigantic proportions, able to block the sunlight with its size. In Japan, Karua is an enormous fire-breathing eagle-man with golden feathers and magic gems crowning its head.

Other Karura Trivia

- Karura is the mortal enemy of the dragon, who it feeds on. Only a dragon who possesses a Buddhist talisman (or one who has converted to the Buddhist teaching) can escape from the dragon-eating Karura.

- In Southeast Asia the walls of temples are often decorated with Karura, as at Angkor or Java. Maybe it is because I just come back from angkor wat trip hahaha.

- Thought to be oldest of the birds

- Flapping of wings sounded like clap of thunder

- Personifies the sun

- In Japanese paintings, the Karura is often depicted as an ornate bird with human head treading on serpents.

- A fierce bird of prey, the mount of Vishnu, variously described as an eagle, hawk, or kite. Garuda is the enemy of all snakes.

After all I understand a bit , I was just back from Bali trip, been seeing Garuda statue everywhere. In a temple I even touched a garuda statue and asked my friend , do u know the story or myth about this guardian ? No one answer .

After reading few page, i decide to paint. This is the unfinished piece cause I am not good with eyes , still not able to paint eyes with soul .

I hv no understand why all the myth make Garuda look fears, a not friendly guardian. I would like to dress up him , with harmony color, with music instrument instate of weapons , killing , hunting and bla bla bla , just nice , relax , playing harp :) also I have mixture Chinese oriental feel to my Garuda. I am sure there is always a "other side" of his personality- "gentle" in Chinese we call 刚中带柔:)

Just a night before he whatzapp me , i was doing a research about Nyonya (peranakan) cause i am actually half blood , was doing this research to ready for my next shoe design collection. Anyhow , a geisha illusion impressed me , a very sad geisha with red blood tears.

my sketch at beginner

Just started with the line, still very blur with the direction .

Why KOI TATTOO?  - i think not so many know actually Koi are Chinese in origin , we call Carp. The carp is now widely celebrated in Japan.

The Koi is more then just beautiful, masculine, positive qualities ,bright colorful, expensive , attention extra need and collectable.

Koi are surrounding with ancient myth in the Orient and their elevated status. This theme dates back to ancient China, where a legend tells of how any koi that succeeded in climbing the falls at a point called Dragon Gate (on the Yellow River) would be transformed into a dragon. Based on that legend, it became a symbol of worldly aspiration and advancement.

游鱼戏水被网欺,跳过龙门化身去,
三尺杨柳垂金钱,万朵逃花显神能.

I choose Koi tattoo in combination with flowing water to symbolizing courage, the ability to attain
high goals, and overcoming life's difficulties. I think that the must sprite to have to survive as a geisha.

 naked geisha ?
hahaha 1st cause my friend requested a naked girl.
2nd it symbolizing the strong, strength and the self confident of the geisha.

GREEN KOi -What the fuck ?

I choose to hide the below part (face) of the geisha with a fan with a "normal" girl face paint.
She is hiding he personality behind.

i am not good with eyes so i decide to close her eyes.
fire red eyes shadow -?!! ah is my dream to put on , but i am too tan , will not be able to bring out the best of the geisha makeup :)

Black hair? never in my mind
was think purple hair color , as u can see on above , but then the color are to heading to blue.
SO.....
Green La
The Modern Geisha.

At the end i added a leopard print tattoo on the neck to stronger the feel of wildness , the typical modern street girl.
in the same time i added lining along the face - geisha's heavy make up not only cover their own real beauty,
also rape away their personality.
wearing a mask,
no matter what is the mood of the day u will never find the expression on geisha face.

This is my Modern Geisha with attitude.
still thinking about the background color .
will upload again the final piece :)
